Ramada prototype slated for New Orleans

Ramada's first Ramada Inn and Suites newconstruction prototype will be built in New Orleans. This move follows the brand's $30million strategic growth plan to enhance the chain's position in the upper-midmarket segment and bolster its presence in downtown, gateway city locations, key secondary markets

and airport locations. The 130-room property near New Orleans International Airport will open in the summer of 2001.

"Our new-construction Ramada Inn prototype combines Old World hospitality with New World technology for tomorrow's traveler," says Steve Belmonte, Ramada president and CEO.

The prototype features a welcome center with electronic check-in/checkout kiosk, a lobby fireplace and cordless phones.

New-construction properties in downtown, gateway city locations and in key secondary markets and airport locations may be eligible for a development advance as part of the company's $30-million growth initiative.
