CANNES Even cocooned within a giant bee suit and suspended from wires high above the Croisette, Jerry Seinfeld kept the shtick coming.

"One thing I hate is movie promotion that smacks of desperation," he quipped to a throng of journalists gathered below at Carlton Beach on May 17. "They tell me Scorsese did this last year for 'The Departed.' Is that true?"

To audible oohs and ahhs from a well-fed international media crowd, Seinfeld descended from the roof of the Carlton Hotel to a giant, sea-level billboard for DreamWorks' "Bee Movie."

"We're goin
