Mile High Call

I confess that I occasionally forget to switch off the cell phone before the plane takes off. However such guilty episodes may be resolved by new technology. Next month an Air France plane will trial using mobile phones during flights according to a European company, OnAir, which has found a way to allow passengers to use their mobile phones while flying.

The technology is due to hit Asia and the Middle East next year, however the more complicated markets of Japan and the US will have to wait until 2009.

The cost of calling sky-high has a fee of $2.95 per minute currently attached to it.  Hmmmm, I may need to wait until I step into the terminal at that rate.
