Peter Lucash: Your staff is your most important asset. It's your staff that enables you to maximize the work you do and the patients you care for and the income that you earn.
One of the ways to get a good staff is to start with looking for referrals from your own employees. They may have friends who would be interested but they're going to be careful about who they actually refer to work with them on a day-to-day basis. So this is a good place to start.
Second of all, advertise in newspapers and in online environments. Don't be shy. Don't hide behind a blind ad. There's no reason why you shouldn't tell people that you're looking for staff. This also implies, and it could be said that you're growing, "Look, we need more people in order to successfully serve the patients we've been serving for so many years." So take a box ad. You'd want your ad to be noticed. You'd want people who aren't necessarily looking for a job to say, "Hmmm, maybe this is the place where I want to work."
Thirdly, take a look at the professional and trade associations. There are groups of medical assistants, for example, and billing professionals. These also are a source where you can place an ad for a very low cost or no cost and get good people.
