Betsy: And is there a magic number? I mean John was actually saying that a lot of times two founders of a company is a good number but a lot of times when you get past two it can be problematic. Is that your experience?
David: I've had great companies that have had groups of people, three, four . what's the largest founding groups I've funded? Maybe four People coming together? And I think the key questions when your founding group is bigger that a couple of people is, is there clear understanding of what roles you play, right? Because if there isn't then having a bunch of collaborative decisions about things that should otherwise just be decisions and done can really bog you down and slow down your progress. On the other hand, if you have a person who is in charge of . marketing and very clearly understands how that is delineated and the engineering head who is managing creation of the product and CEO who is managing then fundraising, etc. Those people then will do a reasonable job of driving the business forward in a smart way, but if it is undifferentiated, smart people, lets all build a business, I can see how a bunch more people could be a bigger issue.
