How Can I Use Business Checks Safely?

Checks are as good as cash. But if something goes wrong with the checks you sign for business, you — not the bank — will be on the hook.

When you write checks for business, sign using a clear, distinctive signature that won't invite forgery. To catch unauthorized checks, review canceled checks before anyone else, including your bookkeeper or employees, sees them. And if your business is a partnership, it's a good idea to have at least one of the partners co-sign the checks.
