PAY BONUSES AND ABOVE AVERAGE COMPENSATION
JIM MARKEL: You know, I provide a more than above-average wage for the state, probably 30% higher than the average wage Montanans earn here, because we're 49th in the nation earnings. And then I do a quarterly bonus based on productivity, that I set the bar on productivity and profitability and then I just pay them by the hours that they work. So if they put in the hours for the quarter, I just basically give them a per hour bonus, and write them a check. Yeah, and we have a good work environment too, that's a lot of it, you know, you've got to have fun as a company. We go on company rafting trips, and we barbeque, and we go out to dinner once a year and so we do the, we try to, it's one big dysfunctional family at the Oxx, you know? (laughs)
